After success last season in Germany Tour Elroy Heidel sets off to the start in Kiel later this week to mount a defense of the yellow jersey. Accompanying him again will our classic winning climber Baltasar Ceratti, Mr Watts/Kg Kevin Pluhar, our English all-rounder Harold Firth, a youthful Dutch climber Niek Van Poppel and finally, after missing out last season our American downhiller Antwan Ray. We've left behind Mesake Tavaga again, a Fijian NT captain and veteran of five editions of Vuelta de los Castillos and he will be saving himself to play a part in Critérium La Provence. All support riders will be in good shape and we can hope to put up a strong fight against the other GC contenders.
The hillers Falkner Loch and Rhett Plaster will have some work to do whilst Elroy Heidel is away and have been pulling in some decent results. A 4th place in Ronde van Limburg in particular was a triumph for Rhett Plaster despite this report: Rhett Plaster had an off day. Falkner Loch suffered from a crash that influenced his performance the rest of the race. Cedric Thomas had an off day. Sean Snow had an off day. Ludwig Van Kelf rode the race in top form. Neal Nixon had an off day. Both canteens and energy bars were used during the race.
